and your environment? I have spent

the last many years trying to be educated in knowing what to do to make

your interior decisions easier and fun rather than a chore or a scarry

intimidating situation. Step one. Get your current textiles together;

chairs and couches covers, bedspreads, drapes, anything that you

love and want to keep. We all have special colors we like or lean to when

choosing these textiles or materials. Is it that blue that you like; that your eye goes

to and has a draw for you? or is it that green, red or yellow that makes

you happy and comfortable> These are emotional and unintentional

inclinations that are enately in us. Why do we like the colors we like?

I went to work for a paint manufacturing company and worked with

the tint professionals who tinted the paint requests of many customers.

They were given a small chip of some color the customer was wanting

to capture; a bit of wallpaper, an old wall color, a piece of material.

These guys came up with the right increments of color to make the

tints the customer wanted; miraculous, or knowledge. All colors

are made of combinations of colors added together to make that

perfect tone or shade or hue. These colors are part of the floor covering

decisions you are faced with as all floor covering has many colors

and textures whether they be hard surfaces or carpet.

I make you a promise that we will make those decisions together and

it will be much easier for you in choosing your floor covering.

Carpet and Me

I started selling carpet because I have worked in color and design

for a long time. It is not like I woke up one day and thought I would be

selling carpet and floor covering. It was my desire to

know everything I could know about color and textures and how

they affect everyones’ lives. I set out and worked in the paint manufacturing

world and learned how pigments make a color. What hue makes your

room the color and feeling you want it to be. What color makes you happy or’

sad. There is a lot to understand and to feel.

I work every day to add color and fiber and texture to what you need

to make your environment what you want it to be and to make your carpet decisions. I meet people every

day that have different ideas of what they want or need to make their

world a better place. I am in your world as to what you want your

environment. What is it going to take to make you happy or comfortable?

What color is going to wake you up or make you feel cozy?

I will help you make your carpet and floor covering plans easy for you.

Carpet Maintenance helps provide long-lasting wear for your home and enhances appearance. Check out my radio interview with Jo Garner of Evolve Mortgage. Jo is the founder of Talk Shoppe , a local networking group that meets each week and allows professionals to mingle and become educated in many topics affecting real estate.

Carpet construction and carpet cleaning methods have been the subject of my presentations at Talk Shoppe. You can see my videos at floorcoveringmemphis.com.

Carpet can maintain its beauty and value over a long period of time by simple steps of keeping the carpet fibers clean. When dirt particles are allowed to stay in the carpet fiber they will grate and grind down the fibers’ integrity. The carpet fiber structure is compromised and the carpet begins to look dirty and look mashed down because the dirt particles are settled down in the carpet fiber.

With regular cleaning and carpet maintenance, these conditions may be easily avoided and eliminated.

Carpet Maintenance Eliminates Walk Patterns

Stains can develop into walk patterns where you actually see a trail of discoloration in your carpet. This not only looks awful but is destroying your carpet fiber!

To alleviate this problem you just have to use a good vacuum cleaner with a beater bar to pull up these dirt particles. You also need to have your carpet professionally cleaned every eighteen months by water extraction (steam cleaning) to remove that staining that occurs in every day living on your carpet.

Consider making a carpet maintenance schedule and post in your Outlook calendar or on the wall in your utility or laundry room to serve as a reminder for you to maintain it.

Check the internet, yellow pages to find reputable carpet cleaners to help you maintain your carpet for long lasting wear and enjoyment.

Carpet Maintenance

A proactive tip in maintaining your carpet is to purchase a high quality grade of carpet in the beginning. As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. High quality carpets like Stainmaster carpets will wear longer and better.

The more durable the construction and fibers the less problems you’ll have with maintenance. It does means that you can eliminate carpet maintenance altogether, but the enhance quality will make the task easier and more gratifying.

Decorating

Secrets:

How light effects color

Light is comprised of varying highs and lows of wavelengths of Light. The Wave length of Color

determines its strength and the energy it exudes. What you see in the

rainbow are the wavelengths of the visible colors. This visible spectrum of light

are the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. White light

from the sun is made up of all the colors which are recognizable for their

wavelengths. Some waves exists above and below the visible spectrum, such

as radio, microwave or infrared being below the red end of the spectrum.

Ultraviolet, xrays, and gamma rays are above the violet wave and cannot

be seen by the human eye.

Decorating Secrets about Light Transfer

Wavelengths of light can be reflected, absorbed or transmitted. An object

has color because of the light it reflects; all other colors are absorbed into

that object. A leaf green because it reflects green light. We can see

color as our eyes have light and color receptors. The rod receptors

reflect light and the cone receptors reflect color.

Decorating Secrets Impacted by Color factors

The impact of color depends on three factors; hue, saturation, and

luminance. Hue is the actual color, saturation is how pure the hue or

color is and luminance describes if the color is light or dark. One of the

most important decorating secrets to know is that contrasting colors;

colors opposite the color wheel from each other; ie, red to green,

compliment each other and enhance the color of both. These colors

have very different wave lengths of color therefore bring this contrast

to our eye’s interest. Using contrasting colors is a key to developing

decorating secrets.

.

Design Ideas-Paint

It has been proven over and over that color can

affect one’s behavior and frame of mind. That is

pretty powerful to think about when you are

trying to choose a color for your room. Do you

want it to feel warm an inviting? Do you want to

be calm and serene or do you want to have an

active and fun time? All of these questions play into choosing that color. We have to find the perfect color

to match our environment and our own personalties.

When thinking of Interior Design Ideas-Paint

remember that certain colors evoke more intense emotions. Red, for instance,

is the most intense color. It is the color of love and anger and draws your

attention to it. When using red make your other furnishes neutral or lighter

so that your eye is not affected too greatly. When you want to relax use

blue to get that laid back feeling. Blue can have a sad affect if in the wrong

shade or sometimes appear cold and uninviting. Combine it with warm tones

to offset the coolness of this color. When you want to have a optimistic hue

choose yellow for its brightness. It can be hard for the eye to adapt to unlike

blue and green which are easy on the eye. Think of green to keep things calm.

Perceiving Color Correctly is one of

important Interior Decorating Tools

Color exists because of light, an object and someone perceiving it.

Though we often think that pure white light is colorless it actually has all

the colors in our visual spectrum of sight. Our eye senses this spectrum

from the Cones and Rod cells in our retinas.. Rod cells pick up low-light

vision where cone cells discern color and acuity. We normally have three cone

cells in our eyes that can sense short, medium or long wavelength light.

This allows our eyes to see color. We tend to be more sensitive to yellow-

green areas of the color spectrum.

Another great one of Interior Decorating Tools is to know that Color has both

hue and saturation.

The hue of a color means that a particular wavelength of light is most

dominant for that color. Blue can have variations of wavelengths that

changes its appearance. A color’s saturation is a measure of its purity.

It can range from dark to light…pale ice blue to deep navy.

Color Blindness Affects Your Interior Decorating Tools ability to discern

different colors in your environment. This color blindness is due

to the problem with the color sensing cones that are found in the retina of

the back side of the eye mentioned before.. If one pigment is missing

of the three needed in the cone of your retina you have

trouble discerning the difference between red and green. If another

pigment is missing in your cone you may have trouble

distinguishing blue-yellow colors. Some persons suffer from

achromatopsia, total color blindness where you see only gray colors.

This is a rare condition but most color blindness exists because of

heredity factors. Men most often are color blind rather than women

as their X chromosome is affected by the lack of the proper pigments

in the cone. Men have only one X chromosome where women have

two. When choosing carpet sometimes a woman’s eye is evident in

her ability to use this important interior decorating tool.
