I went to work for a paint manufacturing company and worked with

the tint professionals who tinted the paint requests of many customers.

They were given a small chip of  some color the customer was wanting

to capture; a bit of wallpaper, an old wall color, a piece of material.

These guys came up with the right increments of color to make the

tints the customer wanted; miraculous, or knowledge.  All colors

are made of combinations of colors added together to make that

perfect tone or shade or hue.These colors are part of the floor covering

decisions you are faced with as all floor covering has many colors

and textures whether they be hard surfaces or carpet.

I started selling carpet  because I have worked in color and design

for a long time. It is not like I woke up one day and thought I would be

selling carpet and floor covering.  It was my desire to

know everything I could know about  color and textures and how

they affect everyones’ lives. I set out and worked in the paint manufacturing

Carpet Maintenance Means Consistent Care

When dirt particles are allowed to stay in the carpet fiber they will grate and grind down the fibers’ integrity.  The carpet fiber structure is compromised and the carpet begins to look dirty and look mashed down because the dirt particles are settled down in the carpet fiber.

With regular cleaning and carpet maintenance, these conditions may be easily avoided and eliminated.

To alleviate this problem you just have to use a good vacuum cleaner with a beater bar to pull up these dirt particles. How light effects color

Light is comprised of varying highs and lows  of wavelengths of Light. The Wave length of Color

determines its strength and the energy it exudes. What you see in the

rainbow are the wavelengths of the visible colors. This visible spectrum of light

are the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. White light

from the sun is made up of all the colors which are recognizable for their

wavelengths.  Some waves exists above and below the visible spectrum, such

as radio, microwave or infrared being below the red end of the spectrum.

Ultraviolet, xrays, and gamma rays are above the violet wave and cannot

be seen by the human eye.

Wavelengths of light can be reflected, absorbed or transmitted. An object

has color because of  the light it reflects; all other colors are absorbed into

that object. A leaf  green because it reflects green light.  We can see

color as our eyes have light and color receptors. The rod receptors

reflect light and the cone receptors reflect color.

The impact of color depends on three factors; hue, saturation, and

luminance.  Hue is the actual color, saturation is how pure the hue or

color is and luminance describes if the color is light or dark. One of the

compliment each other and enhance the color of both. These colors

have very different wave lengths of color therefore bring this contrast

shade or sometimes appear cold and uninviting.  Combine it with warm tones

to offset the coolness of this color. When you want to have a optimistic hue

choose yellow for its brightness.  It can be hard for the eye to adapt to unlike

blue and green which are easy on the eye. Think of green to keep things calm.

are gentle and sincere preferring peaceful surroundings; refined.

Perceiving Color Correctly is one of

Color exists because of light, an object and someone perceiving it.

Though we often think that pure white light is colorless it actually has all

the colors in our visual spectrum of sight.  Our eye senses this spectrum

from the Cones and Rod cells in our retinas..  Rod cells pick up low-light

vision where cone cells discern color and acuity.  We normally have three cone

cells in our eyes that can sense short, medium or long wavelength light.

This allows our eyes to see color.  We tend to be more sensitive to yellow-

green areas of the color spectrum.

Another great one of Interior Decorating Tools is to know that Color has both

hue and saturation.

The hue of a color means that a particular wavelength of light is most

dominant for that color.  Blue can have variations of wavelengths that

changes its appearance. A color’s saturation is a measure of its purity.

It can range from dark to light…pale ice blue to deep navy.

Color Blindness Affects Your Interior Decorating Tools ability to discern

different colors  in your environment. This color blindness is due

to the problem with the color sensing cones that are found in the retina of

the back side of the eye mentioned before..  If one pigment is missing

of the three needed in the cone of your retina you have

trouble discerning the difference between red and green. If another

pigment is missing in your cone  you may have trouble

distinguishing blue-yellow colors. Some persons suffer from

achromatopsia, total color blindness where you see only gray colors.

This is a rare condition but most color blindness exists because of

heredity factors. Men most often are color blind rather than women

as their X chromosome is affected by the lack of the proper pigments

in the cone. Men have only one X chromosome where women have

two. When choosing carpet sometimes a woman’s eye is evident in

her ability to use this important interior decorating tool.
